Matrix Leadership
Andrew C. Lemer founded MATRIX and is the firm's President. An engineer-economist and planner, he has completed assignments in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, and throughout the United States. Currently on the faculty of the Johns Hopkins University School of Professional Studies in Business and Education, he has also served as Director of the Building Research Board, U. S. National Academy of Sciences and as Visiting Professor of Civil Engineering at Purdue University. Lemer authored Solving the Innovation Puzzle: Challenges Facing the U. S. Design and Construction Industry (with H. Bernstein) as well as many other professional publications and popular articles. He received B. S., M. S., and Ph. D. degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and was a Loeb Fellow at the Harvard University School of Design.
Janet Felsten , Vice President, is a planner, architect, and design educator. She specializes in identification of community resources and is responsible for Baltimore's GreenMap development. She has been awarded National Endowment for the Arts grants to work with students and community groups on building environmental awareness, and serves as a member of the Green Mapmakers Advisory Board. Janet received her M. Arch. from the University of Texas at Austin and a B. S. in Environmental Design from the Philadelphia College of Art. She is a registered architect in Maryland and a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners.
